The Cooking Mama franchise has produced a success story from the kitchen. Provider, Majesco Entertainment, reported the sales of a staggering 1.6 million units in the United States for the Cooking Mama franchise.
Game titles that have contributed to these sales include the original Nintendo DS game Cooking Mama that baked over one million units in the U.S. Other successful game titles are Cooking Mama: Cook Off for the Wii console and Cooking Mama 2: Dinner with Friends for Nintendo DS that was released in late 2007 in time for the holiday sales.
The Cooking Mama games boast that players may "learn how to cook with your Nintendo DS!" In promoting the games, Majesco Entertainment state that "as a budding chef you must first prepare foods then combine raw ingredients together as you cook them on the stove. Follow real recipes or experiment with your own combinations to create a culinary masterpiece with your stylus."
In a Majesco Entertainment press statement, Jesse Sutton Chief Executive Officer noted that "The success of Cooking Mama has been akin to catching lightning in a bottle". He continued that "A unique concept, iconic main character and gameplay execution that fully utilizes the stylus and Wii Remote have proved to be a winning combination. We appreciate the continued support from all Mama's fans and look forward to launching the fourth title in the franchise later this year."
For Wii gamers eager to continue cooking, Jesse Sutton also declared that a new version of Cooking Mama 2 for Wii is planned for release later on in the year.
