It is reported that the Nintendo Wii console continues to be sold out very quickly and that the stock lasts for about a day. It is also expected that Nintendo will not meet the demand over the upcoming holiday.

Reggie Fils-Aime, the President & CEO of Nintendo America states that the demand is greater than the supply of the console. He admits that since the product was introduced to the market, it has been sold out world-wide. Fils–Aime expects this situation to be the same over the Christmas season. It appears that although the Nintendo management was always convinced that the Wii console would be very popular, it has well exceeded its anticipated sales figures.

Although there have been recent promises that due to Nintendo's efforts to increase production, North America will be receiving 'unprecedented' numbers of the Wii console, it has been made quite clear that the demand over the holiday season for this product will not be met.

In an interview with the San Jose Mercury News, Fils-Aime claims that "the issue is not a lack of production. The issue is we went in with a curve that was aggressive, but the demand has been substantially more than that. And the ability to ramp up production and to sustain it is not a switch that you flick on. We're working very hard to make sure that consumers are satisfied this holiday, but I can't guarantee that we're going to meet demand. As a matter of fact, I can tell you on the record we won't."

Fils-Aime suggests for all those hopeful soon-to-be Wii console owners, that it would be recommended to try to make contact with various retailers and to check on a regular basis when the next supply is expected.
