It appears that there will not be price cuts for the Nintendo Wii or DS during 2008.
It is reported that Satori Iwata, Nintendo company president stated that the company has no plans to reduce prices for the hardware Wii or DS during 2008. Price cuts are apparently not a part of the company's forecast for the year.
However much a customer may like to see reduced prices, one needs to remember that if demand for a product is high then there is no necessity for the company to cut prices. In addition, a price cut on hardware that is still sold in its original form sometimes does not seem fair to gamers who rushed out to buy the product straight off the shelves.
Although the DS sales appear to be slowing down in Japan, sales still seem to be strong in Europe and the United States. It seems that Nintendo will try to keep clients on their toes and playing with new software in order to keep up with their sales forecast. Nintendo's Wii has proved to be very popular and since its release onto the market in November 2006, has sold more units than the competition from Sony PlayStation 3 and Microsoft's Xbox 360.
This year Nintendo Wii owners can expect new games on the market including the Mario Kart Wii. In addition, gamers in the U.S. and Europe may also look forward to the release of the Wii Fit game that incorporates an exercise plan and has already been released in Japan. This game is already being talked about around the globe and is eagerly anticipated in different parts of the world.
So for eager gamers that have not yet purchased a Nintendo Wii, there does not seem to be much point in waiting for a cut in price.
