Even though price drops in the field of consoles appear to be all the rage, it has been made clear that there will be no such occurrence for the Wii console at the present time.

The holiday season is approaching and these days, video games and their related products play a big part in the search and selection of gifts. For all those soon-to-be purchasers of consoles, it should be made quite clear that the Nintendo management intend to maintain the same price for its Wii console. Although this news is no big surprise for many people, perhaps there was just a bit of hope out there.

Following a reduction of prices for the Sony PlayStation 3 and also cuts for the Xbox 360, it seems that Nintendo will not be following suit. The console for the Nintendo Wii games will remain at the recommended price of $249 in the U.S. There will be no Christmas spirit here, as Nintendo claim that they have no problems with demand for the product and have no intentions of reducing the price.

George Harrison, Nintendo U.S. executive stated: "We'll stay at $249 for the foreseeable future. We are still selling everything we can make." This statement was made in an interview with Reuters, during which it was made quite apparent that Nintendo have no aims or desires to make price reductions.

It is reported that Nintendo are still selling all the Wii units that they manage to produce and therefore see no justification or necessity to join Sony and Microsoft and lower their prices. Although the comments made were in reference to sales of the console in North America, it appears that that the prices of 249 Euro in Europe and 25,000 Yen in Japan will also remain the same for the time being.
